Tim Tebow: Sadly, we were on a flight and missed Tim Tebow’s final home game Saturday against Florida State. Tebow was outstanding as usual – 221 yards passing and three TDs; 90 rushing rushing and two TDs – and the CBS crew (the terrific Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson) once again went over-the-top in polishing his knob. By all accounts, it fell somewhere between Gary and Verne’s lovefest for Tebow in last year’s SEC title game, and Thom Brennaman’s epic slobbering during last year’s title game. It was so bad, even CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco took a couple shots at the network. USA Today chimed in: “CBS announcers Gary Danielson and Verne Lundquist— and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, who wore Tebow-like eye black in a sort of homage — were over-the-top in genuflecting to Tebow during game coverage. Hope they just needed to get it out of their systems before calling Tebow’s Florida vs. Alabama in the upcoming SEC title game — assuming they feel worthy of seeing Tebow again.”
