Bob Stoops and the Media: The Oklahoma coach – who refuses to say if he is negotiating with Notre Dame, and refuses to say “No, I am not going to coach there” – is still railing on the media for speculating about his future. Stoops is backing himself into quite a corner. After all this ranting and raving, if he takes the Notre Dame job, the media in the Heartland will trash him. Our guess – if Notre Dame doesn’t land Stoops today or tomorrow, its window will be closed. And then the logical move is to lock up their safety pick, Cincinnati’s Brian Kelly. Longshot: if Florida loses the SEC Championship to Alabama, dangle a blank check in front of Urban Meyer and say, “what’s left to accomplish in Gainesville after two titles in five years?” If he beats Alabama, forget it.
