Ballin': Sasha Vujacic and Maria Sharapova Still Going Strong, Much Stronger Than the Spurs and Warriors

maria-sharapova-sasha-vujacicNew Orleans 117, Orlando 123: Much-maligned Vince Carter erupted for 48 points and the Magic rallied from 17 down to beat the Chris Paul-less Hornets. It’s a big week for the Magic, who have a day off before traveling to Chicago and Cleveland for back-to-backs heading into the All-Star break. The Magic are six games behind the Cavs for the 1st seed in the East. Darren Collison, the UCLA rookie filling in for CP3, had 27-9 with four steals for his third straight pretty good game. Much too early to tell if he could be the team’s next point guard should the financially-strapped franchise have to trade Paul.

San Antonio 89, LA Lakers 101: No Kobe and no Bynum and the Spurs still lost? That’s us waving the white flag because our NBA Finals pick from the West, San Antonio, has absolutely no shot. And yeah, Richard Jefferson just isn’t working out with the Spurs. That abnormally tall couple at the top of this post is Sasha Vujacic and Maria Sharapova, still going strong. Below, Michigan State’s Shannon Brown, who might be the best leaper in the NBA.

Dallas 127, Golden State 117: The Mavericks made 41 free throws. The Warriors made 42 baskets. Stephen Curry scored 25 points and had nine assists and didn’t come out of the game. Anthony Morrow went for 33 and Monta Ellis added 27 before leaving late with an knee injury. There is no end in sight to the disaster that is Golden State.
