Floyd Mayweather, as expected, punished Sugar Shane Mosley Saturday night in Vegas. In improving to 41-0 with the unanimous decision, Mayweather collected a gross purse of $22.5 million. (Mosley, according to HBO’s Larry “Vodka Breath” Merchant,” is done.) So when’s Mayweather-Pacquiao?
According to Pacquiao’s official website, he is “willing to consider” taking a blood test 14 days before the fight, as Floyd Mayweather insisted last year (Pacquiao previously refused to bend on the 24-day testing used at the Olympics). If Pacquiao concedes to 14 days, it’s up to Mayweather to make this happen. He’d look like a giant fraud if he changed his demands to a week or the day of the fight. How does October sound, in Cowboys stadium, with 100,000 people in attendance? The Cowboys have an bye-week.
Mayweather, who loves to run his mouth, took a shot at Pacquiao this weekend:
“Well, how did Pooch-e-yow get Fighter of the Decade when he got outboxed by Erik Morales and had a knockdown, drag-out with Marquez? I just don’t understand this. And all these fighters have been cakewalks for me. They’ve all been cakewalks for me. I just don’t understand this. Do you?”
We haven’t ordered boxing on pay per view since … damn, must have been the early 1990’s. This is one we would strongly consider.
