As for the headline – I hate those vuvuzelas. They’re obnoxious and I don’t understand the point. People blow them throughout the game no matter what teams are playing. Is it supposed to distract both teams? No, its just supposed to be annoying. If that’s the goal, then mission accomplished, I guess. Or are they just there to help spread disease? Stop blowing those damn horns.

Anyway, here are two trailers to soccer movies from my childhood. First, The Big Green which featured Steve Gutenberg, Hamilton “Babe” Porter and Kevin Arnold’s sister.

Next, Ladybugs, the non-stop laugh riot about a cross-dressing teenager and Rodney Dangerfield trying to get ahead in corporate America by coaching a girls soccer team. Man, the ’90’s were weird.

Bonus for the ladies: Best Week Ever’s Michelle Collins put together a gallery of hot soccer players taking [soccer]balls to the face.

This weekend we’ll have all the best soccer coverage. Hockey season is over, the NBA Finals are on their second intermission, and baseball is baseball. Duffy will be around for game threads and Tim “Hernia” Ryan and myself will be up to the usual weekend nonsense. Enjoy the games. Oh, and U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
