Reds 6, Athletics 4 (10 innings): The Reds finally emerged from a serious offensive ditch with three home runs in the top of the 10th including back-to-back (and belly to belly!) shots from Joey Votto and Scott Rolen. Expert closer Frank Cordero blew his fifth save of the year but he got the win too. Yay? Yay! Most importantly, the win moved Dusty Baker into a tie with Chuck Tanner for 26th place on the all-time list.

Nationals 2, Royals 1: Before we get into this one, there is some breaking news on the Nationals front – John Lannan has been sent Double-A. He was their opening day starter. Kind of sucks for him. Just when things were getting interesting for this franchise, he gets to ride around on a bus that sadly won’t be driven by Otto. As for the game, the Royals wasted a gem – at least by his standards – from Bruce Chen. Pretty sure they’ve flushed a good start by everyone this season, including Cousin Eddie and his dazzling white shoes. Livan Hernanez got back in the good side of the column after an abysmal showing against the Tigers. Now, back to Eddie.
