World Cup: Ratings for the World Cup for the US soccer team have been outstanding. This could spur more interest in the sport in the US, right? Enter John Romano: “Don’t believe it when people talk about the growth of soccer in the coming days. They will mention all the youth leagues and the TV ratings this week. But the youth leagues have been around for decades, and it hasn’t made a difference. And the TV ratings will fall off a cliff now that the United States has been eliminated.” Without fail, this discussion happens every four years. Soccer fans might want to take the high road and not bother engage the haters – because they’ll be out in full force today.
