Chael Sonnen showed that superior wrestling can beat Anderson Silva. You have to give him credit because he did what almost no one seriously thought he could do. Sonnen said it would be a one-sided beating and dammit if he didn’t turn out to be the one that was actually swinging the hammer. Sonnen put Silva on his ass and constantly worked towards finishing the fight.

Very rarely is talked backed up so thoroughly. Especially in a loss. Taking a quick glance at the middleweight landscape, I don’t see anyone I’d rather see face Silva next than Sonnen. After the fight Silva said that he had suffered a rib injury in the weeks leading up to the fight and the doctor didn’t want him to go. He did and he was dominated. In the end, he won though and that’s what’s important for his legacy.

As for Sonnen, he may have lost the fight, but he gained a lot of new fans last night. I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m still scattered after last night’s card. I’ll take the day to drink at the track and rewatch this entire card because holy shit was last night a great night to be an MMA fan. I’ll have thoughts on EVERYBODY on Monday.
