Rory McIlroy Hopes Tiger Woods Makes the Ryder Cup Team Because Nobody's Afraid of Eldrick Anymore

Here’s what 21-year-old golfer Rory McIlroy said when asked about Tiger Woods and the Ryder Cup team: “I would love to face him. Unless (Woods’s) game rapidly improves in the next month or so, I think anyone in the European team would fancy his chances against him.”

This quote is yet another reason why we don’t think Tiger is going to break Jack’s record. Keeping in mind that McIlroy’s never won a major – but in his last five majors, he’s missed the cut twice and finished in the top 3 in the other ones – there’s simply no fear. Tiger’s dominance in golf is kinda, sorta, starting to feel like Michael Jordan coming back with the Wizards or Mike Tyson post-jail. Tiger’s obviously not washed up or even close to it – but he clearly is beyond his prime, and the young kids who once idolized him can’t wait for a shot at the former king.

And that’ll do it for today. Enjoy the Patriots and Falcons (FOX, 8 pm) and then Jersey Shore. And will someone solve this damn blind item? [Photo: Getty]
