The Cardinals lost three of four to the lowly Nationals over the weekend, who entered the series with the disheartening news that their franchise savior would be lost for the remainder of this season and all of next season. Saturday, the Cards’ manager and best player showed up at Glenn Beck’s political rally. Sunday, said manager mysteriously yanked OF Colby Rasmus from the lineup. Monday: St. Louis is five games back of Cincinnati in the NL Central with about 32 games left. Attempting to tie all of these events together would be a stretch, but damn if Buzz Bissinger didn’t try to pull it off. Just check his vituperative tweets from the weekend. [Post-Dispatch]
