Brooks Conrad, meet Bill Buckner. Conrad, an infielder who spent nine seasons in the minors, committed three errors in game three of the NLDS yesterday, including an embarrassing through-the-wickets gaffe in the 9th inning – eerily reminiscent of Buckner’s error in the 1986 World Series – that gave San Francisco a 3-2 victory.
As expected, the internet beat up Conrad pretty badly last night. He told reporters, “It’s completely embarrassing. I feel absolutely terrible right now. I wish I could just dig a hole and go sleep in there.” Tim Lincecum rejoiced with another F-bomb on TV.
