Presumably after a much needed tryst with Bud Light while keenly breaking down some film, tireless student of the game Pat Burrell is back in the Giants lineup tonight as the DH. The fact that he won’t be roaming the outfield is important because Cody Ross made a catch in left last night that Burrell wouldn’t have had on rollerblades.
He’ll tragically be replacing Travis Ishikawa, owner of two hits and an RBI in 10 postseason games. But the real theater obviously lies within the Lincecum-Lee pitching matchup. Game 1 was hyped as the greatest showdown in history and ended up seeing both pitcher’s gone before the sixth inning, eventually snowballing to an ugly final score of 11-7. You know at least one of these guys will bring their best stuff tonight.
As for some random news, the coolest World Series story to date has to be the Rangers fan who caught Buster Posey’s home run ball. He apparently gave the historic ball back to Posey for a simple autograph and a picture. Shocking outcome considering the going rate for memorabilia like that these days is at least 25 grand and a producer’s credit.
