College Football: Baylor vs. Oklahoma State

I give the edge to Oklahoma State. They are playing at home. Oklahoma State presents a more balanced and comprehensive threat. Baylor needs to worry about Justin Blackmon and the slot-receivers he’s creating space for underneath. They must do so while still accounting or Kendall Hunter up front. Stopping Baylor’s read option is no leisurely afternoon, but it’s easier than multi-tasking. OSU should win outright. The nine-point spread could make things more interesting, though.

If you want to root for the true BCS nightmare scenario, it is a Baylor-Syracuse Fiesta Bowl with Non-AQ teams in the Sugar and Rose bowls.

Again, I would hop on the Illinois (+3) against Michigan. After watching the Wolverines the past month, there is no way they should be favored against any moderately decent team. Michigan’s defense and special teams are arguably the worst units in Division I. Illinois is underrated. Their only losses are to Missouri, Michigan State and Ohio State. They have a Top 20 defense. The freshman QB Scheelhaase is improving every week. He threw 16/20 for 195 yards and 4TD against Purdue last weekend, while running for 118 yards on 21 carries. Michigan has no answer for him…or anyone.
