Blake. Griffin. His first dunk put Russian rookie Timofey Mozgov on a poster for the first time in his NBA career. Griffin’s hand doesn’t actually touch the rim, he just throws it down violently while using his left hand to drive Mozgoz’s face into his crotch (on purpose?). We were actually more impressed by Griffin’s 2nd dunk, when Griffin spun on the fast break and dunked fiercely on Danilo Gallinari, all in one rapid motion.
The Knicks won, 124-115, for their third triumph in a row. Amare had 39, Gallinari had 31, and those two combined to make more free throws (24) than the Clippers made as a team (22). Griffin had 44 points and took 15 rebounds.
UPDATE: After Griffin dunked on Mozgoz, Amare acknowledged how impressed he was at the :25 mark of this video. [via @Gary Parrish]
Elsewhere in the NBA last night … Rudy Gay made the NBA’s first walk-off buzzer-beater this season, sinking a fadeaway jumper in LeBron’s face as the Grizzlies won a game we knew we should have bet on, 97-95.
