Thursday Night Football: Andre Johnson Is Playing Against Philadelphia

I doubt the TV angle was decisive.  We do have a guy named Michael Vick playing, and teams from two of the largest media markets who are both still playing for something.

Johnson should have been suspended, though.  I love Andre Johnson as a player, but it should be a fairly bright line rule in the NFL that if you fight outside the rules of the game, you sit.  I don’t care if you are a great teammate or a good character guy who has no other blemishes.  This is exactly my issue with the amorphous standards the league applies to determine punishment.  You act remorseful, or look someone in the eyes just right, it’s okay.  If you have beady eyes or don’t connect with the powers that be on a personal level, you better toe the line, though.

As for the game, Asante Samuel will be a game time decision.  Fans and people with recreational interests will be waiting until the last minute, then, because the Eagles defense looked vulnerable last week in Chicago.  We know that the Texans defense is vulnerable, and Michael Vick is not Rusty Smith, so I would look for the Eagles to have plenty of opportunities to make big plays in this one.  It could be a high scoring affair tonight.
