New Orleans Bowl Preview: Troy vs. Ohio

Noteworthy: Expect turnovers. Both Troy and Ohio are near the bottom of the country in turnovers per game. Troy commits 2.3 and Ohio 2.5.  Ohio quarterback Boo Jackson is playing, despite suffering gruesome facial injuries in a bar fight earlier this season.  Troy lost its last two bowl games, both in double overtime.

For Ohio to Win: Handle the spread. Troy will give up points, but freshman QB Corey Robinson should be able to pick apart Ohio’s secondary with their short-passing game. If they get in a rhythm, the Bobcats will struggle to match their offense blow for blow.

For Troy to Win: The Trojans have treated the field like an amusement park, chronically beating themselves. Along with the turnovers, they commit the most penalties in the country, nearly nine per game. They need to focus, stop the run, spread the field and hope Jerrel Jernigan can make a play or two.

Prediction: Troy and the over.
