Zack Greinke: The Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel is reporting a rumor that the Brewers have sent “shortstop Alcides Escobar, center fielder Lorenzo Cain, and right-hander Jeremy Jeffress to Kansas City in return for Greinke, shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt and approximately $2M.” The paper did stress that the deal was a “preliminary agreement” and nobody in the organization has confirmed the trade. If true, Grienke in the NL with Yovani Gallardo as his No. 2 … why couldn’t the Brewers contend in the NL Central, or at least for a Wild Card spot? [UPDATE: A second outlet in Milwaukee is reporting the trade, and so is ESPN’s Buster Olney.]
