Maurkice Pouncey Won't Play in the Super Bowl

Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie center Maurkice Pouncey won’t play in the Super Bowl due to a high ankle sprain, according to teammate Chris Kemoeatu. “We are definitely sad that he won’t be able to be with us in the Super Bowl,” Kemoeatu told the Tribune Review.

“Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him.”

Pouncey suffered the injury in the first half against the Jets and his backup, Doug Legursky, botched a snap to Ben Roethlisberger at the goalline, resulting in a safety.

One has to imagine that Green Bay’s star defensive tackle, BJ Raji, is salivating at the prospect of going against a backup. Dom Capers probably has something special planned to rattle the newbie. I still don’t know why the Jets didn’t blitz Roethlisberger up the middle Sunday and try to take advantage of Legursky.
