Holy Family University Basketball Coach Suspended for Hitting, Pushing & Kicking a Player

John O’Connor is a Division II basketball coach at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, and he’s been suspended for hitting, pushing, and kicking one of his players last month. It’s tough to tell from the video what prompted O’Connor to flip out, but the unexpected hit/push sent the player (sophomore Matt Kravchuk) to the ground. He landed awkwardly on his wrist and was bleeding from his mouth. The kick appears gentle, but it’s still a kick. Then, the coach cursed at him and kicked him out of practice.

Holy Family did nothing to the coach after Kravchuk and his family complained – obviously, the whole story has yet to emerge – so they filed a police report and this video was leaked to the media, and now the coach – who used to be an assistant coach at Georgia Tech – is suspended. From the team’s stats page, it appears as if Kravchuk is a seldom-used reserve.
