College Basketball: Pat Knight was let go by Texas Tech this morning. He’s been a disaster in Lubbock, going 16-42 in the Big 12 in 3+ seasons as head coach. Back in December, Lee Barfknecht at the World-Herald thought Billy Gillespie would make a good replacement. It’s a decent job, but not better than NC State or Arkansas, assuming those open up. Towson fired coach Pat Kennedy today, too. Another name to monitor as the week progresses: Jim Boylen at Utah. Also, Paul Hewitt might need a couple wins at the ACC tournament to keep his job … but he’s got an expensive buyout, so I think they’ll give him another year to turn it around at Georgia Tech.
