Pat White: Remember the former West Virginia star QB? He was once a Heisman contender and a second round draft pick, but he never turned into much of an NFL player (though, to be fair, this hit by Ike Taylor had a lot to do with it). Last fall, White decided to give baseball a shot. When Matt Cassel was stinking it up in Kansas City, jokes flew about how White was the best quarterback in the state of Missouri (clearly, Blaine Gabbert was being overlooked). Well, White didn’t show up for Spring Training, and informed the Royals recently that he’s retiring from baseball. [NFL Nation]
