As you may know, I like looking through Getty for post ideas. Obviously, Getty knows this and that’s why they put that blonde chick in that effing hat as the default image for the Ladies Day at Aintree gallery. The gallery did not let me down. What I found was a day of British people getting wasted at a race course in their finest clothes. WAG Coleen Rooney was among many WAGs and footballers in attendance.
As you can see, the women dress like they’re going to prom or a red carpet premiere. These are award show gowns. Then they get drunk and end up sitting down on piles of discarded betting slips and beer cups to eat the U.K. equivalent of nachos. That’s one of the universally beautiful things about the track. Weddings and other formal events also combine dress clothes and the heavy consumption of alcohol, but the outdoor factor of the race track takes it to a whole other level.
Here’s how Ladies Day is described.
Known as the biggest social and style day out in the North West, Ladies’ Day will return to Aintree on Friday 8th April 2011 and promises to be more stylish than ever. Raceday fashions provide a spectacle of colour in the Red Rum Garden with some amazing prizes up for grabs for Aintree’s most stylish racegoers. With make-up sampling, goody bag giveaways and fashion shows all happening in this area, it’s the ultimate raceday style experience.
Style. Class. And a hat covered in donuts. Ladies day at Aintree Racecourse is high society defined.
Finally, speaking of a fucking hat.
