Champions League Semifinal: Manchester United vs. Schalke

Schalke capitalized on Inter Milan’s poor defensive organization (viva Leonardo). Manchester United has, when healthy, probably the best back five in soccer, even with John O’Shea. Sir Alex Ferguson has one of the best tactical minds in the sport. They will be far tougher to break down.

United also has an emphatic advantage with their speed and versatility up front, with players such as Park, Nani, Rooney and Chicharito. Those guys will (a) keep Schalke’s fullbacks honest, pinned back and neutralized and (b) absolutely fillet the slower German defenders on the counterattack.

Man U should advance easily, though, on paper, Inter Milan should have as well. Hopefully, a trip to the final will perk up poor Darren Gibson.
