Roy Williams: The Tar Heels – definitely the preseason No. 1 in college hoops – will be hosting Wisconsin in the ACC-Big Ten challenge this Fall. It’s the first time in 12 years of the challenge that the teams will be playing, and it’s rather convenient that the Heels are loaded and the Badgers might be the 3rd or 4th best team in the Big Ten. Said former Wisconsin AD Pat Richter: “I know darn well that you’ll never get Roy Williams here. He won’t come to Wisconsin; he’s afraid the people are going to boo him and everything else.” In 2000, Williams ripped the Badgers’ pace when he was coaching Kansas. “Are you going to tell me you don’t like this more than 19-17 at halftime? I’m not a nuclear physicist, but you make the choice. We’re trying to make it a game of basketball skills, not a weight room contest.” [Madison.com]
