Central Arkansas Gives Football Field The Prince Makeover

Boise State is the poster school for quixotic lower-division athletic directors. Want to convert your FCS also-ran into a perennial BCS dynamo? Increase your “buzz” by installing a profoundly obnoxious field. The University of Central Arkansas unveiled the concept for this black, purple and silver monstrosity at “First Security Field at Estest Stadium” in April. It has come to fruition. According to Athletic Director Brad Teague, Central Arkansas “did not want to copy” Boise State and Eastern Washington. The school just wanted it to look like Prince rented it for a few months. Blinding was not enough, for the folks at Central Arkansas. They wanted to make you simultaneously vomit and pass out. The thought of tracking something silver and purple travelling across a silver and purple field gives me motion sickness.
