If You Live on the East Coast, You Don't Have to Worry About Watching Djokovic-Federer on Tape Delay

I spoke with Adam Freifeld in the NBC Sports PR department this morning, and here’s the story:

The first French Open semifinal, Nadal-Murray, will be on the Tennis Channel at 8 am.

The second semifinal, Djokovic-Federer, will be live on NBC starting at 11 am. But NBC only has the 11 am window everywhere, so sorry rest of the country, you will not be able to see the Djokovic-Federer match live. What NBC Sports is doing to try and ease the pain: streaming the match live online (NBCSports.com).

Here’s where it gets tricky: If Nadal-Murray is a quick match, and Djokovic-Federer starts before 11 am, then everyone in the US will have to watch on the Tennis Channel or stream the match online. In this scenario, it is my understanding that at 11 am on the East Coast, NBC will pick up the match  am wherever it is (first set, second set, etc).

So if you live in California or Chicago and want to see the match live, you’ll have to stream it online. If you’re on the East Coast, you’re likely in the clear – unless Murray-Nadal wraps up quickly.
