"A Nash County Sheriff’s deputy who is the father of NFL star Julius Peppers was arrested Wednesday in Wilson and charged with felony possession of cocaine. George Thomas Kurney, 50, of Bailey since has been relieved of his duties. He and Donald Earl Bullock, 46, of Sims were arrested following a joint investigation by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and Tarboro and Wilson police departments."

That’s sad. Peppers is the second prominent Chicago athlete in the last month to have a family member grab headlines for all the wrong reasons. [Rocky Mount Telegram]
