US Open: A Foreign Player's Going to Win, Right? That's the Trend

"Heading into Thursday’s start of the 111th U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club, foreign players have captured five of the last six majors and eight of the last 11."

It’s probably just cyclical, right? (Or the fact that Tiger Woods has been in a career free-fall for the last three years.) Currently, 11 of the top 20 PGA Tour golfers were born in the United States, but they just haven’t been able to close in Majors (looking at you hobbled Tiger Woods, Dustin “Sandtrap” Johnson, slumping Bubba Watson, Major-less Steve Stricker, and close-but-no cigar Matt Kuchar, who has 19 Top 10 finishes in the last two seasons).

Put me down for Phil Mickelson winning at Congressional (he’s 14:1). The favorites, according to Bodog:

Lee Westwood 11:1
Luke Donald 12:1
Phil Mickelson 14:1
Rory McIlroy 16:1
Dustin Johnson 25:1
Hunter Mahan 25:1
Martin Kaymer 25:1
Matt Kuchar 25:1
Nick Watney 25:1
Steve Stricker 25:1
KJ Choi 28:1
Bubba Watson 40:1
Jason Day 40:1
Graeme McDowell 45:1
