University of Kentucky Cheerleader Survived Four-Story Fall

University of Kentucky cheerleader Dylan Smith was teaching a gymnastics class on the fourth floor of a building when he basically backed into a door that wasn’t supposed to open. The door gave way and he fell backwards into the air. Smith told his father that he had instinctively done a backflip in mid-air which allowed him to land on his feet. When he hit the ground, he blacked out while he fractured his pelvis, dislocated a hip, a ruptured his spleen and punctured his lungs. Good lord.

Smith got into cheerleading as “a goof” in high school. It ended up saving his life. He’s currently a pre-med student at Kentucky in addition to being part of the white squad.
