Steve Alford Has Banned the New Mexico Basketball Team From Twitter

"Once Henry enrolls at New Mexico, “he will not be allowed a Twitter account,” UNM men’s basketball coach Steve Alford told the Journal via a hand-written faxed note. Alford says he does not allow any Lobos to have Twitter accounts. He does allow Facebook accounts and says someone in his program monitors them."

Bummer. Teenagers who are under the media’s microscope probably aren’t ready for twitter. You can only play the, “I was hacked” or “my friend took my phone and wrote that” excuse so many times.

While we’re talking New Mexico, Hugh Greenwood will be getting plenty of ink come November. Greenwood, a 6-foot-3 point guard, killed at the FIBA U-19 World Championships playing for Australia, and he’s expected to have an immediate impact with the Lobos. Alford is being coy about whether or not he’ll start at point guard, but I’m certain by January he’ll be the team leader.
