Jon Heyman just stated on the MLB Network that the Boston Red Sox have acquired lefty starter Erik Bedard from the Seattle Mariners. No details have been given as to what Boston had to cough up, but I expect to find out just as soon as Peter Gammons finishes hanging up his clothes in his MLB Network office. Bedard has pitched decently this year but his most recent start was nothing shot of a debacle, lasting just 1 1-3 innings and allowing five runs.

Update: According to Gordon Edes, the Sox sent catcher Tim Federowicz to the Mariners, Seattle then flipped Federowicz, Juan Robinson and Steve Fife to the Dodgers for Trayvon Robinson, who the Mariners then flipped to Boston. Yeah. That old bit.
