If you’re looking to make up controversy, Rory McIlroy questioned Tiger’s chances in the tournament! Damn kids and their MTV! Respect your elders! Via USA Today:

No one expects him to come out and play well. I’m sure he expects himself to come out and play and compete, but given the length of layoff and considering that he’s only been able to hit full shots for the last two weeks or whatever, it would be an unbelievable effort if he was to come back and compete. But I think just get through 72 holes and maybe finish top 20 would be a really good effort.”

Oh. Well, that does sound kind of reasonable. McIlroy went on to insult Tiger by saying he might have trouble developing a meaningful relationship with a woman and trust issues might come into play.

Despite what Rory says, Tiger had a solid round of 2-under par.Woods had three birdies and a bogey yesterday. His birdie on the 10th was his first in 22 holes – or 3 months, 3 weeks and 4 days.

Oh yeah – some dude named Adam Scott is the leader at -8. I think he’s a character on Tiger Woods ’09 – just the PS3 version though.
