DeANGELO WILLIAMS WILL GET IT DONE FOR YOU THIS SEASON
By John U. Miller
My spider-sense is tingling.
Trust me when I say that D.W. looked great week one, breaking a sweet 20-yard run and even catching a flare pass and scooting 16 yards.
We aren’t used to DeAngelo catching passes, but with a new coach and coordinator (Rivera and Chudzinski) we might be surprised this year. Carolina returns all five starting offensive linemen, and remember, RT Jeff Otah missed last season with a shoulder injury. Otah’s a vigilante run-blocker who goes for spilled blood out there.
I think DeAngelo will get 65% of the Panthers’ RB touches (and there should be tons of those because of the quarterback concerns) and he’ll tickle the Top 12 RBs all for the low, low price of a fourth-round pick.
Value, Sleeper, Underrated, whatever . . . I just know that clubs don’t give RBs $21 million guaranteed just to offer them 50% of the work.
