Rex Chapman Singing Prince's 'When Doves Cry' is Something to Behold
By Jason McIntyre
There’s no better introduction to this karaoke video of the Incandescent* Rex Chapman singing When Doves Cry than this: “Air-Force mids, jorts, belt, Karl-Kani hoody = pure sex symbol. An Idiot King who would be Prince?” Those are the words of Rex Chapman, the former Kentucky star and occasional NBA scoring machine. In the annals of athletes singing karaoke, this performance has to be near the top. [via Hot Clicks]
* When Chapman was a Washington Bullet in the mid-90s, Tony Kornheiser of the Washington Post was fascinated with this wiry guard who would score points in bunches. Kornheiser dubbed him “the Incandescent Rex Chapman,” and as a teenager growing up in the DC area, I thought that was one of the coolest nicknames ever. (Longtime readers of this site know Kornheiser was my first journalism man crush.) Where can one get a Rex Chapman Bullets’ throwback?
