The Rum Diary Trailer

Like any good aspiring sports writer who likes to have a drink, I’m a huge fan of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. I’ve sampled all the required readings and have always wanted to get my hands on some pure Adrenochrome. Ever since I read the book, I’ve been patiently waiting for the movie that was perpetually in pre-production.

Fans have been waiting on this movie for more than 10 years now. The Rum Diary has been like the Chinese Democracy of Hunter S. Thompson film adaptations. Instead of guitar players, we’ve had guys like Josh Harnett, Benicio del Toro and Nick Nolte attached and detached from the film.

Now, finally and mercifully, it’s here. October 28, 2011 is the official release date. After waiting a decade for The Rum Diary, another two months is nothing. All for two more hours of Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson. I really hope it was worth the wait.
