“This is like us getting Ali-Foreman.”

A little much, but this is pretty huge. This is absolutely the best move the  UFC could have made. People love heavyweights and these are two monsters that hit like missiles the size of the Chrysler Building. dos Santos is 13-1 and has won his first 7 fights in the UFC. The only reason he hasn’t finished all 7 of his opponents inside the Octagon is that Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson have a pain threshold unheard of by man.

Velasquez, the champ, is 9-0, 7-0 inside the Octagon and has finished all but one of his fights by KO or TKO. Beastly. When I went to Vegas to cover Ultimate Fight Night 14 (Silva vs. Irvin), Velasquez spent most of his fight against Jake O’Brien bouncing O’Brien’s head off the mat like a basketball.

Instead of the original plan to air two fights on Novmeber 12, this will be the only bout on FOX. That’s quite alright though since this is a guaranteed great fight. Apparently, FOX will begin advertising for the bout this weekend during college football and baseball coverage. There will also be a hour-long special after the NFL some Sunday leading up to the fight. Get ready to get sick of these guys.
