Floyd Mayweather Knocked Out Victor Ortiz In The Most Controversial Way Possible

Well… Victor Ortiz tried to headbutt Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the ref stopped the fight for a minute. During the stoppage, Ortiz hugged and kissed Mayweather to apologize. When the fight was restarted, Ortiz went in for another hug. Mayweather didn’t look like he wanted to hug. The referee wasn’t paying attnetion and Mayweather shrugged off Ortiz. Mayweather hit him with an undefended left and right. Fight over.

As the video shows, it was dirty, but it wasn’t illegal. This might be the greatest case against pleasantries in combat sports. Protect yourselves at all times…

Oh, and then Mayweather got into it with HBO’s Larry Merchant. To be fair, Merchant is awful. I do give him credit for “If I were 50 years younger, I’d kick your ass!” And he did clarify later by saying he wouldn’t have been able to take Mayweather even if he were 50 years younger.

Mayweather and Merchant have a bit of a past.
