Wayne Rooney's Father Involved In Scottish Betting Scandal

Wayne Rooney’s father, Wayne Sr. and uncle, Richie were among nine arrested following a nine month investigation into a strange bet. The player involved is Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings. From Mirror Football:

After being booked for a foul early on in the game Jennings was shown a straight red card for putting his hand on referee Stevie O’Reilly and arguing when a penalty appeal was turned down in the 83rd minute of the SPL clash.

Normally, a player getting sent off isn’t anything special. However, people bet on a player getting thrown out of that game.

Questions were raised by bookies when it emerged that several bets were made on a player being sent off including a £500 gamble placed through a new account opened in Liverpool at 10/1 odds.

I understand that £5000 is a good chunk of change (Roughly $7,670), but when your son makes around five-times that amount per day, it seems pretty stupid.
