LSU will win, but will they cover? The quarterback situation that could be more significant is LSU’s. Jordan Jefferson is back, and should see substantial playing time this week. If Lee has a second consecutive stinker, things could get very interesting for the Tigers, and not in a good way.

Last year’s game also had this little nugget of Les being Les.

Crank Up the Rumor Mill: Penn State fans likely will witness some brutal, borderline unwatchable football against Iowa, but there may be reason for hope. One report claims that, should Joe Paterno decide to retire, Penn State and Urban Meyer have mutual interest in him becoming the school’s next head coach.

The claim rests on three premises. Meyer purportedly met with the school’s president and athletic director when he was in town for ESPN duty. A source, purporting to be a close friend of Meyer, claims Meyer would return for three jobs: Texas, Ohio State and Penn State. Paterno also expressed his admiration for Meyer at last year’s Outback Bowl. No word on whether a sinecure for JayPa will be part of the negotiations.

Penn State has been the country’s most underachieving program on aggregate the past decade. It looks as though Mack will stay on at Texas. Ohio State could have some serious problems. Logically, it would make sense, though it depends on Meyer’s willingness to come back.
