Boy Band Faceoff: Lance Bass-Mentored HEART2HEART vs. Russia's Steklovata

This is Steklovata, a Russian boy band that is awesome. As you can see by their videos, the previous sentence is 100% accurate. Steklovata are no New Kids On Ze Block. The videos are a couple years old, but when you combine that with the fact that the videos are from Russia, it looks like they are much older. I mean, look at them. It’s like a Russian music producer watched hours of Backstreet Boys, New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees and NSync and all he came away with was Brian Littrell’s haircut.

I hope these kids have since become Russian millionaires and they spend their money in nefarious ways that end with Liam Neeson getting involved. Also, Wrangler shirt.

Now, let’s look at the modern-day American version of Steklovata, HEART2HEART.

HEART2HEART is a new boy band that is apparently mentored by former NSync also-sang, Lance Bass. Their name seems like MTV’s boy band parody, 2Gether. We’re through the rabbit hole people. HEART2HEART is so post-ironic, they may be serious again. This video implies that we as a society have chose to take both the blue and red pills and we may have overdosed.

As The Village Voice points out, there’s no way to tell if this is serious. Does it really matter? Just look at these jerks. “Facebook Official” is something that people have been saying for years – mostly… hopefully – with tongue firmly planted in cheek. This video cracks me up. Just look at these guys.

I think it is safe to say that musically, Steklovata wins, but in life, HEART2HEART has won.
