Cardinals Further Annoy Cubs Fans, Ask for Permission to Interview Ryne Sandberg

According to Ken Rosenthal, the St. Louis Cardinals have asked permission to interview Hall of Famer and universally beloved Cubbie, Ryne Sandberg, who managed in Triple A this past season for the Phillies organization. The affable Phils are expected to grant permission, so it’s really just a matter of when it will happen.

To Cubs fans, this snippet of information all by itself is about as pleasing as a scorpion to the scrotum. But making matters worse is Theo Epstein’s announcement earlier this afternoon, following the dismissal of Mike Quade, that whoever takes over as manager of the precious Cubbies will need to have some big league experience. Bit of a surprising statement from the new guy in town. It comes across as bad PR for someone trying to change the culture and would have been wiser of Theo to appease the fanbase and invite Ryno in for a sitdown.

Nonetheless, Ryno in Chicago is a no-go for now while the lane is very much open for, at the very least, a forbidden affair between Sandberg and the seemingly merciless Cardinals.

After a quick search, reaction to the news from Cubs fans has been pretty reasonable so far:
