ESPN Wants to Know How the Penn State Scandal Will Affect Recruiting

If you can describe what’s currently taking place on a college campus and with its football program as “an explosive child-sex abuse scandal” — allegedly, of course — I’m guessing the thought of how said scandal will affect the school’s ability to secure top high school recruits who excel at the sport of football does not reside at the top of the totem pole. And given that this unusually disturbing story is already marinating in carcass-filled sewer water well past our knees, asking this question right now just comes across as shallow, slimy and completely insensitive.

Perhaps the burning need to pose this question so quickly is indicative of just how big “the program” is as it relates to the rest of the world that rotates around it. That’s pretty sad.
