Matt Schaub Has A Significant Foot Injury [UPDATE: Schaub Out For Year]

First Matt Cassel, now Matt Schaub. How is Matt Stafford one of the few remaining healthy Matts in the league? Cassel’s injury will ultimately have little impact on the playoff race, but Schaub’s could be huge.

Houston Quarterback Matt Schaub has a significant foot injury “that’s being evaluated as we speak”, according to comments from Gary Kubiak at the press conference today. It’s a good thing I held off on writing that “Texans are the favorite for the #1 seed” post. The backup is everyone’s favorite, Matt Leinart. Houston has a bye week this week to prepare for games without Schaub, and the schedule is still favorable, but this will have an impact on how likely they are to secure a bye in the AFC.

[UPDATE: According to Adam Schefter, Schaub has a lis franc injury and will miss the rest of the season. We’ll have more on how this will impact the Texans tomorrow].
