Priolesec OTC, a brand from NFL marketing partner Procter & Gamble, is seeking best-case tailgating skills from NFL fans and others nationwide, and is directing people to a dedicated Web site now through Jan. 4, 2012, to drop in their recipes, hints, tips and photos.

The “A Better Way to Tailgate” competition is offering people an opportunity to win “the ultimate Prilosec OTC prize pack, including the chance to showcase their tailgate style in Indianapolis and two tickets to Super Bowl XLVI.” (Full details here.)

With the assistance of Larry the Cable Guy, who is scheduled to make personal appearances at NFL stadiums and cities for the rest of the season, Prilosec will grill over the submissions, picking the top nine and then chopping that down to the final three winners.

Prilosec OTC is used to prevent and relieve heartburn, which the brand envisions happening on a regular basis during and after tailgate parties.

“As a frequent heartburn sufferer and a die-hard football fan, Larry the Cable Guy wants Americans to recognize the importance of effectively treating their frequent heartburn,” Phil McWaters, Brand Manager, Prilosec OTC for Procter & Gamble, said in a statement. “Fans can eat the foods they love and celebrate their love of the game this football season, making him a perfect partner for Prilosec OTC.”

“Deep fried, dipped and drenched in sauce — that’s the type of food that I serve at my tailgates,” said Larry the Cable Guy, who kicked off the competition with an appearance in New York’s Times Square on Nov. 16.

“The last thing I want to keep me from enjoying the game is my frequent heartburn,” said Larry. “While taking Prilosec OTC for 14 days, I can be heartburn free on game day. I can eat what I like — I’m not afraid of a plate of smoky ribs, spicy hot wings or last down heartburn.”

People can enter to win in one of three categories: 1. Food Served 2. Tailgate Set-Up and 3. Team Spirit. In addition to Super Bowl tickets, other prizes include VIP tickets to Larry’s comedy show and the ultimate tailgate gear.
