Boudreau’s regular success with the Capitals can’t be argued. Washington went 201-88-40 and won the Southeast Division four consecutive seasons. Despite a slow start this year, it was ultimately the history of playoff failure that ended in his termination.

The Ducks’ organization hopes that Boudreau will be able to breathe some life into the team which has had an abysmal start to the season. Anaheim is currently 7-13-4 and in last place in the Pacific. The only team in the entire NHL with fewer points in the standings right now are the Columbus Blue Jackets. Anaheim was the 4-seed in the West last season.
