Sumlin has a 35-17 record in four years with the Cougars, 32-11 with Keenum as the starter. He was co-offensive coordinator for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma before taking the job in 2008.

Assuming there’s fire to the blinding smoke coming from College Station, that would be another potential home for Mike Stoops. He has been rumored to be Sumlin’s choice for defensive coordinator. He has met with Urban Meyer about the Ohio State DC job. He also could replace Carl Pellini at Nebraska if he leaves for Florida Atlantic. His brother could have an opening if Brent Venables is offered a head job. Presumably, he might get some lower-level head-coaching interest as well.
