I joke about the time between his last appearance and his official retirement, but Pedro’s career will go down as one of the best ever. Martinez won 3 Cy Young awards and finished second in the American League MVP voting in 1999. His career record is 219-100. He won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox back when it meant more than just about anything else meant in sports. Just like every other thing in his career, Pedro retired in a historic fashion.
