Barry Bonds Avoids Jail Time, Gets 2 Years Probation, Community Service, Fined $4,000

Barry Bonds was sentenced today to 2 years probation with 30 days of location monitoring and 250 hours of community service. Oh, and he was hit with a $4,000 fine.  (And an extra $100 for something.) Judge Susan Illston said that precedence was 15-21 months in jail, but went along with the probation officer’s recommended sentence. In the end, Bonds’ charity work and philanthropy helped lighten the sentence. Bonds still has an opportunity to appeal the sentence and his defense team said they will. Why not? Let’s make this an even decade.
