I’m being told after today’s practice, Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake got into an old-fashioned, heated, ‘altercation’.

Just so I can be clear, it’s been described to me as ‘serious.’ This wasn’t just a few shoves.

Source said McGloin hurt in the ‘altercation.’ He was ‘knocked out.’

This is all second-hand, obviously, but reliable. Quite a commotion and scene described to me. Police were called.

This was two players who had been jawing at practice. Not related to anything else. From source, ‘It happens, but not like this.’

To recap from source: Drake/McGloin jawing in practice, Drake initiates making amends in locker room, McGloin takes exception…

…McGloin punch/shove (unclear), Drake takes him to floor, pop to the chin, McGloin ‘lights out.’

Things must have gotten ugly for the police to get called. Quarterbacks and wide receivers are supposed to be friends, not enemies. More on this as it becomes available.

[UPDATE: Penn State released a statement on the incident. “Penn State Police were called to the football locker room this afternoon to investigate a report of a fight between two members of the Nittany Lions football team — Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake — after they finished practice. McGloin was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was examined, treated and released.

Campus police and Penn State’s Office of Judicial Affairs will investigate the incident and report results as they would for any other student involved in an incident on campus.”

Also, Matt McGloin’s twitter has been … interesting. He claimed it was hacked, but then deleted that. Now, the account has been deleted.]
