The Big Lead's Best Soccer Goals of 2011

There is no moment in sports quite like a goal in soccer. Every one grabs attention. The very best are just sublime. Here, in no particular order, are our ten best goals of 2011.

Neymar (Santos) vs. Flamengo [July 28, 2011] It has yet to be seen whether he’s the next Ronaldinho or the next Robinho, but the Brazilian wonderkid has some RIDICULOUS ball skills.

Dejan Stankovic (Inter) vs. Schalke [April 5, 2011] One-time volley off a goalie’s header from around midfield. Someone will try to disparage this goal. That person will be an idiot.

Giovani Dos Santos (Mexico) vs. United States [June 25, 2011] Nothing the U.S. defense could do about this one. One hell of a finish.

Eric Hassli (Vancouver Whitecaps) vs. Seattle Sounders [June 11, 2011] MLS promos should just be this goal in a loop.

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) vs. Manchester City [February 12, 2011] Great goal at a pivotal moment. Tremendous piece of athleticism. The best part is he mishit it.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) vs. Real Madrid [April 27, 2011] Hard to pick just one Messi goal, but here he is making the second best team in the world look like clowns.

Robin van Persie (Arsenal) vs. Everton [Dec. 10, 2011] RvP may be a one-footed player, but that’s one hell of a foot. 19 goals in 20 starts for Arsenal this season.

Eden Hazard (Lille) vs. Marseilles [March 6, 2011] The Arsenal target gets a little bit of space and slams one into the net from distance.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) vs. Lecce [Jan. 16, 2011] Because this list just would not be complete without a Zlatan goal.

Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands) vs. Austria [Feb. 9, 2011] Prettay, prettay, prettay good morsel of skill from the diminutive Dutchman.

Because you want to see it first!
